The D/A Method is a progressive rock band from Karachi, Pakistan. Band’s sound can best be described as a constant tug of war between dreamy, mellow psychedelia and crushing, heavy rock, with a hint of traditional Pakistani flavor thrown in.
In 2012, guitarists Umair Dar and Talha Alvie set out to create music that combined their eclectic tastes and influences, ranging from Pakistani folk to black metal. Joined by the blues-inspired Usama Siddiq on vocals, Romanian-born Istvan Csabai on drums, and electronic musician Daniel Arthur Panjwaneey on bass, the band released the Janissaries EP in 2014, which included a cover of Katatonia’s doom classic “Brave”. The band’s first full-length album, The Great Disillusion — a three-part concept album — was released in 2015. That same year, the band began recording their second full-length album, The Desert Road, in collaboration with Bruce Soord of English progressive rock band, The Pineapple Thief.
The Desert Road was released on September 14, 2017, accompanied by music videos for the tracks “The Desert Journey” and Dream “Sequence”. The band most recently released “A Night in September” (Live at Angel Recording Studios) and is currently hard at work on their third album Sanctuary, which is being recorded at A for Aleph. The D/A Method has been featured by Red Bull Middle East and on Rolling Stone India’s monthly playlist.
