Takatak was formed 10 years ago, in the city of Lahore. The band derives its name from a spicy Pakistani, meat dish — “takatak” denotes the sound of a spatula hitting the griddle as it breaks the food into smaller chunks while it is being cooked with aromatic spices and herbs. Takatak performs a modern take on heavy metal, never before seen in Pakistan. The band has gone through a number of line-up changes. All three line-ups have released a record, each one unique from its predecessor.

This is the third time the band’s line-up has been restructured, and also the most extensive, resulting in an album that is truly experimental.

Produced by Zain Peerzada, Luke Azariah, and Umair Dar, Takatak’s latest album was recorded right here at Aleph Studios, and engineered by Daniel Arthur Panjwaneey and Adeel Tahir. The album has been mixed by Keshav Dar, and mastered by Ermin Hamidovic, known for his work with artists like Plini and Ola Englund.
