‘Khayal’ is a pure one-take classical improvisation album that was recorded at our studio by Engineer/Producer Daniel Arthur Panjwaneey and Anas Alam Khan. The idea of this album was initiated by Anas Alam, being exposed to a huge collection of records and CD’s of his parents at a very young age, this album is hugely influenced by the 90’s collaborative album collection ‘Maestro’s Choice’ featuring great Tabla Players, Sarangi Players, Singers and Instrumentalists from the sub-continent. Aizaz Sohail is a disciple of Pandit Ajoy Chakrobarty in India, and has a unique sense for ‘Khayal’ singing. Khan asked Panjwaneey to engineer and produce this album because of his unique aesthetic and wanted to see what Panjwaneey who also releases music under the aliases Alien Panda Jury could do to this recording. Khan ‘I hope to do more records like this so people like Aizaz can showcase their talent in the most organic and raw form, raw emotion is what hits me the most.
